This is a variation of the familiar Little Red Hen fable with a Mexican cast and some Spanish words woven into the English text. Iguana prepares for a fiesta, but her three friends won`t help. She feels swamped with duties like stuffing the pinata and writing the invitations, but Conejo (rabbit) claims to be much too fast to do anything very well, while Tortuga (turtle) quickly points out that he`s obviously too slow. Culebra (snake) seems anxious to do what he can, but unfortunately he can only pitch in Manana, Iguana, when I grow my arms. Conejo, Tortuga, and Culebra play in the background, pretending that a cactus is a snowman, while poor Iguana toils, and she finally rescinds their invitations. After the party, they`ve realized their error and clean up everything while Iguana sleeps. A glossary with Spanish meanings and pronunciations is included. Colorful cartoon watercolors accompany the text. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved.
